What is a Tile Installer invoice?

A tile installer invoice covers the supply and installation of ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and mosaic tiles for floors, walls, showers, splash-backs, and commercial surfaces. Tiling work is commonly priced per square metre for labour, with tiles and ancillary materials (adhesive, grout, backer board, edge trims, silicone) listed separately. Tiling rates vary by tile size, format, and pattern complexity. Large-format tiles (600x600mm or larger) require more skill and time than standard tiles. Herringbone, chevron, or feature patterns add complexity and command a premium. Shower and wet room waterproofing is a separate but essential part of tiling bathroom projects and should be invoiced as a distinct phase.

Frequently asked questions

How do I price a bathroom tiling job?
Measure the m² of walls and floor to be tiled. Floor tiling runs £25-£45/m² for labour depending on tile size. Wall tiling runs £30-£50/m². Add tile supply, adhesive, grout, trim, and silicone. A typical bathroom tiling job total is £800-£2,000.
Should I charge extra for herringbone or feature patterns?
Yes. Diagonal and herringbone patterns require more cutting and planning. Add 20-30% to the standard labour rate for these patterns.
Do I charge for waterproofing separately?
Yes. Tanking or wet room waterproofing is a distinct phase using different materials and techniques. Invoice it as a separate line item so clients understand they are getting a proper waterproof installation.
What if tiles crack after installation?
Tile cracking is often caused by subfloor movement or insufficient expansion joints, not the installation itself. Document the subfloor condition before starting. If the crack is due to poor workmanship (wrong adhesive, insufficient coverage), it is your responsibility to fix.
How do I handle tile breakages during installation?
Allow 10-15% extra tiles for cuts and breakages. If the client provided exact quantities with no allowance, note this on the invoice and quote additional tile supply as a separate line item.
