What is a Psychologist invoice?

A psychologist invoice covers assessment, therapy, consultation, and report services delivered by a registered psychologist. Psychologists in the UK practising clinically must be registered with the HCPC. Services include psychological assessments, cognitive assessments, CBT or other evidence-based therapy, medico-legal reports for courts and solicitors, employment tribunal reports, occupational psychology assessments, and supervision. Because psychologists often work across NHS, private practice, and medico-legal contexts, invoices should clearly identify the service type and referral source. Psychological therapy and assessment by registered practitioners is VAT-exempt. Medico-legal work is typically invoiced to solicitors at higher rates than standard therapy sessions.

How to invoice as a psychologist

Issue invoices after sessions or on report delivery. HCPC number must appear on all clinical and medico-legal invoices. Net 14 for private clients; net 30 for legal firms.
