Invoice clients for antenatal visits, birth attendance, and postnatal care. Professional invoices from Tidybill.
An independent midwife invoice covers maternity care services provided privately outside the NHS, including antenatal appointments, birth attendance (home birth or alongside midwifery unit), postnatal care, and bereavement support. Independent midwives are regulated by the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) and must have appropriate professional indemnity insurance. Care packages are typically all-inclusive, covering all antenatal appointments, 24/7 on-call availability, birth attendance, and postnatal visits. Because the birth date cannot be predicted, independent midwifery care is usually invoiced as a package rather than per appointment. Invoices should describe the full scope of the care package and the payment schedule clearly.
| Service | Typical Rate | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Full independent midwifery care package | 4500 | package |
| Antenatal-only package (6 visits) | 900 | package |
| Postnatal care package (4 visits) | 600 | package |
| Birth reflection / debrief session | 100 | session |
| Bereavement support package | 600 | package |
Invoice the package in instalments: a deposit at contract signing, instalments at set stages of pregnancy, and final payment by 36 weeks. Issue each instalment invoice with the cumulative amount paid and balance remaining. NMC pin should appear on all clinical invoices. Midwifery services by NMC-registered midwives are VAT-exempt.
