What is an Influencer invoice?

An influencer invoice is a billing document issued to brands or their agencies for sponsored content creation and publication. Influencers create content (posts, stories, videos, blog articles) promoting a brand's products or services to their audience in exchange for payment. Invoices should clearly describe the content delivered (number of posts, platforms, format, live date), the audience reach, and usage rights granted. Influencer rates are based on follower count, engagement rate, and content quality. Gifted products are not billable unless converted to a paid partnership. Influencer payments are taxable income and must be declared; invoices create the financial record for both the influencer and the brand. The ASA requires that paid partnerships are clearly labelled as advertising.

Frequently asked questions

Should I charge for usage rights?
Yes. Usage rights (allowing the brand to use your content in paid ads, on their website, or beyond the agreed organic post) should be priced separately from the creation fee. A common model is to add 20-50% of the creation fee per 6-month usage period.
What payment terms do brands use?
Brands and agencies typically pay net 30-60. Negotiate better terms upfront. For new brand partners, consider requesting 50% upfront.
Do influencers need to charge VAT?
Only if your annual turnover exceeds £90,000. Many influencers are below this threshold, but those with significant brand partnerships may exceed it. Track your income carefully.
How do I prove delivery to brands?
Attach screenshots of the live post, story, or video to your invoice. Some brands require engagement metrics screenshots or platform analytics after a defined period.
Can I invoice for gifted products?
Gifted products without a payment agreement are not invoiceable. If you negotiate a gifted-plus-fee deal, invoice only the cash fee component.
Can I use this template for free?
Yes. Tidybill's free plan lets you create up to 5 invoices per month at no cost, with no credit card required. You can use the Influencer invoice template straight away after signing up.
